What a first consultation involvesIntegrative medical practice · Johannesburg

Dr MS Nalla is a registered integrative practitioner. Patients are assessed conventionally first, then treated with whichever of the three approaches suits the case, or a combination of them.

What the practice offers
You do not have to decide in advance which kind of treatment you need. That decision happens in the consultation, after an assessment.
Consultation, examination and diagnosis in the ordinary way, including referral for imaging, bloods or a specialist opinion where that is what the case needs.
What a first consultation involvesHomeopathic consultation and prescribing, carried out alongside conventional assessment rather than in place of it.
How prescribing worksFine single use needles placed at specific points, applied by a clinician with conventional medical training as part of a wider treatment plan.
What a session is likeYour first visit
Most anxiety about an integrative practice comes from not knowing what the appointment will be like. This is the sequence.
01
A full history, including anything you are currently taking, whether it was prescribed here or elsewhere.
02
A conventional clinical examination. Tests or imaging are requested if the case calls for it.
03
What was found, what the options are, and which of the three approaches is being suggested and why.
04
Treatment or a prescription, and a follow up date where one is needed.
Please ask about the appointment length and the fee when you book.
For parents
Dr Nalla holds an MSc Med in paediatric neurodevelopment from the University of the Witwatersrand. Children are seen in the same rooms, with the same integrative approach and appropriate care taken over dosage and technique.
A child presenting with headaches, seizures, tics or a developmental concern is assessed for neurodevelopmental causes, and referred to a paediatric neurologist where that is what the case needs. Dosage and technique are adjusted for age.
Location
The practice is on the corner itself, set back from Beyers Naudé Drive. Turn into Acacia Road for the entrance.
