What a first consultation involves
A consultation begins with a full history, including anything you are currently taking, whether it was prescribed here or elsewhere. That is followed by a conventional clinical examination.
Where the case calls for it, blood tests or imaging are requested, and you are referred to a specialist in the ordinary way. Conventional assessment comes first in every case, including the ones that go on to be treated homeopathically.
You leave with an explanation of what was found, what the options are, and which approach is being suggested and why.
Homeopathic practice
How prescribing works
A homeopathic consultation takes longer than a general one, because the prescription depends on detail that a short appointment does not reach.
Prescribing happens after a conventional assessment, not instead of one. Existing medication is taken into account, and it is never stopped without discussion. If a case needs conventional treatment, it is treated conventionally.
Homeopathy sits alongside conventional care here. It is not offered as a replacement for it, and it is not presented as suitable for every case.
Medical acupuncture
What a session is like
Needles are single use, sterile and considerably finer than the ones used to take blood. Most people describe the sensation as a dull ache or a heaviness rather than a sharp pain.
Once the needles are placed you rest for roughly twenty minutes. Some people find that part unexpectedly restful. Others feel tired afterwards for an hour or so.
It is reasonable to be uneasy about needles, and worth saying so at the start of the appointment rather than at the end. The number of points used can be kept low, and the alternative approaches are discussed if you would rather not proceed.
